Where to start

Which caimito (star apple) to plant first

UF/IFAS rates caimito 'yes' for the Florida home landscape: a large tree (30 to 40 ft) with low to moderate water needs, harvested February to June. Two color types, purple and greenish-yellow peel, both with white, soft, milky pulp. Young trees are damaged or killed at 31 to 32°F and mature trees take leaf damage at 28 to 29°F, so here it wants the warmest spot you have and cover on freeze nights. Grafted trees can fruit in 1 to 2 years; seedlings take 5 to 10.
